SATIN STITCH

I start with a line in the middle (the longest stitch) then finish one side then complete the other half of the shape. Why do I start in the middle? To make the shape symmetrical and all the lines straight against the middle line.

How to approach a shape? Look at the height and width as a guide. You don’t want to make the longest stitch* longer than 2.5cm / 1 inch. If you do this, the embroidery work will be loose and will not always lay flat to the fabric.

* the longest stitch is the first stitch I make.
